Book early enough to settle into the style while keeping the finish photo-ready.
Do not leave it to the last minute
Book early enough to get a useful choice of barber and appointment time. If you are making a major style change, a trial cut before the event gives you time to live with the shape and make a smaller adjustment later.
Bring realistic references
Save two or three photos that show the length, texture and finish you like. References work best when the hair type is reasonably close to yours, and it also helps to explain what you do not want.

Choose a finish that photographs well
Graduation photos capture the haircut from more than one angle. Clean edges, a balanced silhouette and controlled texture usually matter more than adding an unfamiliar trend at the last moment.
Plan the full event-day routine
Include facial hair, neckline and styling in the plan. Ask which product to use, how much to apply and whether the cut looks best air-dried or styled with heat so you can repeat the finish on the day.
